Olivier Giroud believes Arsenal can challenge for the title next season

Ahead of the new season upon us Olivier Giroud is confident that Arsenal can challenge for the title next season if they can get off to a good start.

"If we start better than we did this season, I know that we will compete for the title next year because we are used to playing together now and have improved as a team," he said.

"We have also improved as individuals throughout the season, especially the newcomers like Santi (Cazorla), Lukas (Podolski) and me."

"It was not easy at all. It was a massive challenge," he said."I hope that as early as my second season, I can play week in week out and keep scoring regularly because it's key for a striker.


"I have scored fewer compared to last season in Montpellier but the ratio, minutes played to goals scored, is good.

"I scored 17 goals in all competitions and gave 10 assists which, for a first season in England, is good. I am happy with the stats.

"However, you can always do better and I know I can do better and there is a lot of room for improvement. That is why I am already looking forward to next season."

Interview with Ryo Miyaichi as he speaks of his delight of going to play in Japan in Arsenal's Pre Season Tour

Next season Arsenal will travel to Japan for their pre season tour where they will play 2 games against Nagoya Grampus on July 22nd and Urawa Reds on July 26. Here is what Arsene Wenger had to say on the news :

“I am delighted to be returning to Japan where I spent two very happy years before joining Arsenal. We are very happy to be visiting Saitama this summer after our trip to Nagoya. We know that Urawa Reds frequently have large crowds at their J-League matches and the Saitama City Cup has seen top European teams compete against the Urawa Reds in previous summers. The match follows our other fixture in Japan against Nagoya Grampus, and we are sure to receive a very warm welcome from our many supporters in Saitama.”

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: “We are delighted to confirm our involvement in the Saitama City Cup this July in Japan. We know we will have very strong and vocal support with our Japanese Arsenal supporters in attendance. This will be our second and final fixture in the country as part of the Arsenal Asia Tour 2013.”

Ryo Miyaichi is delighted to be going back to his home country and says it would be a great moment in his career. Find out more what he had to say in the video below! 

"Arsenal have a huge [number of] fans in Japan - like in China and Malaysia as well. It will be a good time for the whole team. I spoke with my family and my friends and they are happy to see Arsenal in Japan. They want to see me on the pitch of course!

David Dein : Arsene Wenger will finally decide to spend big

Former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein has revealed that in the summer Arsene Wenger will finally decide to spend big despite Wenger being reluctant in the past. Here is what Dein had to say :

“The fact is he has to strengthen the team and I know he will do that. He is one of the best managers in the world, he’s been coaching for 30 years and knows what he is doing”

“He knows what he wants and it’s just a question of identifying the right talent. It’s a long, hard season and I am a great supporter of Arsene.”

“It’s a long, hard season and I am a great supporter of Arsene.He has done a phenomenal job and continues to do so year-on-year. He has the fire in his belly. I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t be there.”

What do you make of these comments will it finally be the day when Arsene Wenger spend big? To compete with the best teams around the world it is a must that we spend big on world class players.

Santi Cazorla has been name March EA Sports player of the month

On the official Arsenal website Santi Cazorla has been name Arsenal EA Sport's player of the month for March. This is now his second consecutive award and his 4th of the season in his first Premier League season. Cazorla scored one goal in March against Reading which was also voted goal of the month.

The results below are as follow :

Team News : Arsenal vs West Brom : Theo Walcott & Jack Wilshere defiantly out for the game but has resumed training

Steve Bould has revealed the teams news for the upcoming game with West Brom. The main story is that Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott have resumed training but won't be involved in the game but have a good chance of been available for next week game against Norwich.

Nacho Monreal had a knock to the knee when colliding with the post against Reading but Steve revealed that he should be available for the game.

Wojciech Szczesny committed to Arsenal: 'As long as they want me'

After being left out of the last 2 games against Bayern & Swansea Wojciech was reiterated his commitment to Arsenal Football Club. The 22-year-old international has seen Lukasz Fabianski impress in keeping two clean sheets in Arsenal's last two fixtures.

Szczesny said: "I am too happy to go somewhere else. I believe in the philosophy of the club and that Arsenal will start to win again.

"I have a debt to pay here for the club, I owe them. I just do not want to go anywhere else. As long as they want me here, there is no 'somewhere else', and I have a contract until June 2015."

Wojciech on the possibiliy on missing out on Champions League Football 'It is halfway through March and we have lost everything. There are still 10 matches left to save the club against the humiliation of all times.'It would be disaster not to be in the top four and without Champions League next year.

Arsenal remained firmly in the race for Champions League qualification after Nacho Monreal and Gervinho secured a 2-0 win at Swansea on Saturday. Arsenal bounced back from their Champions League exit to step up their challenge for a top-four Premier League finish as goals from Nacho Monreal and Gervinho secured a 2-0 win at Swansea City on Saturday.

The win moved Arsene Wenger's side to within two points of fourth-place Chelsea, 24 hours before Rafael Benitez's side face West Ham United at Stamford Bridge. The Gunners struggled to break down Michael Laudrup's side but eventually made the breakthrough when Monreal scored his first goal since arriving at the club in an £8.3 million ($13.2 million, 9.7 million euros) move from Malaga in January.


Then, with Swansea looking for a equalizer, Gervinho secured the win in added time. Wenger had called on his side to display the qualities they had shown in beating Bayern Munich in mid-week, when they went out of the Champions League on away goals. The message appeared to get through, with Arsenal pressing forward immediately and only narrowly failing to match their efforts in Munich, when Olivier Giroud had set them on their way with a third-minute goal. This time the early opportunity fell to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who tricked his way past Swansea right-back Angel Rangel before firing a right-foot shot that rebounded to safety off the crossbar. But Swansea were equally positive in their response and Rangel made his presence felt at the opposite end of the pitch when he broke clear in the visiting area, only to slice his shot wide.


Swansea's victory at Newcastle United two weeks previously had taken the League Cup winners to the 40-point target set by Laudrup at the start of the season, prompting him to set a new target of a top-half finish.His side looked capable of taking the first step towards that mark when Michu turned Per Mertesacker in the 17th minute, only to pull his left-foot shot across the face of Lukasz Fabianski's goal. Fabianski had again been preferred to Wojciech Szczcesny in the Arsenal goal, with Szczesny taking his place on the substitutes' bench alongside Thomas Vermaelen, the club captain.

In Vermaelen's absence, the centre-back pairing of Laurent Koscielny and Mertesacker had impressed in Munich and the duo again provided a solid barrier in front of Fabianski, denying Swansea for the rest of the first half. And with more luck, the visitors might have reached the interval ahead, as Oxlade-Chamberlain again hit the bar with another long-range effort after good work from the impressive Santi Cazorla three minutes before the break.


Arsenal maintained their momentum after the restart, with Abou Diaby firing over from outside the Swansea box. The home side had looked like a team sat comfortably in mid-table, but they began to show more urgency as the second half progressed, with Michu and Pablo Hernandez firing over from good positions. But it was Arsenal who finally made the breakthrough, three minutes after Wenger had freshened up his side with the introduction of Aaron Ramsey and Gervinho for Oxlade-Chamberlain and Diaby. A period of sustained pressure brought about a corner that Swansea failed to clear effectively. The home defence was then stretched by a strong Cazorla run across the face of goal and when the home side again failed to clear the Spaniard's low cross, Monreal was on hand to finish left-footed. Swansea pressed for an equalizer but were caught out on the break when Ramsey sped down the right before squaring for Gervinho to finish from 12 yards.


The victory is more interesting as Arsenal paid Swansea back in same coin as the reserve fixture was a 2-0 loss at the Emirates. Arsenal are back on track for the Champions League, but still nine more crucial games to go with everything still left to play for. So what do you think of the victory? It certainly hard thought but got thier in the end. Onwards and upwards now as out next fixture is home to Reading. COYG!

Bayern Munich 0 Arsenal 2 - Arsene Wenger Press Conference

Despite heading out of the Champions League Arsene Wenger in his post match press conference was full of praise for his team, but his biggest regret was the defeat in the first leg at home at the Emirates. "We went close and I am very proud of the team. As well I am very disappointed for anyone who follows Arsenal that we could not get that third goal."

He also was coy on why he had dropped captain Thomas Vermaelen. "I don’t want to explain too much. It is possible he will play at Swansea. We have tomorrow and Friday yet." Find out more on what he had to say in the video below.

Team News ahead of the Bayern Munich game - Jack Wilshere out for 3 weeks!



Arsene Wenger confirms his team news for the Bayern Munich game Jack Wilshere out for 3 weeks with ankle injury while Szczesny is rest and Podolski is also out with injury.

While coming back into the squad are Kierian Gibbs who has come back from injury also Diaby and Fabianski were called up into the squad.Meanwhile, Nacho Monreal is ineligible for the match, having represented Malaga in the group stages of the competition.

Final Comment - Due to the fact we are not bringing out our strongest squad I just cannot see us winning unless there is a collapse from Bayern and we play to the maximum. What I want to see from Arsenal is to see us go for the win we have nothing to lose.

News : Goal reports that Sagna is at loggerheads at Arsenal & is set to leave


According to Goal Bacary Sagna who's contract runs out at the end of next season that its likely that Arsenal will let leave in the summer. There were previous negotiations at the start of the season but the stumbling block was that he wanted a 2 year extension rather than the 1 that the club was offering.

News : Spurs 2 Arsenal 1 - Arsenal lose the North London Derby. 03.03.13



Despite dominating the first 25 minutes of the first half yet again defensive errors and playing a high line cost Arsenal dear as Spurs had 2 shots on goal in the whole half and scored them both from Bale and Lennon. We had most of the ball but just couldn't create too many clear cut chances mustering only 2 shot on goal all match. In the match analysis in the video Walcott made many runs for the midfielders but no one could find him.

Podolski was left on the bench which was strange as he scored in the previous fixture so he played Ramsey along with Arteta and moved Cazorla to the wings which isn't his favorite position and wasn't that effective in the game.Now its going to be a massive challenge to get into the top 4 as we are now 7 points behind Spurs and 5 behind Chelsea.
